By submitting a commission draft and placing a deposit with Wood & Power LLC, you agree to the following craftsman terms and guidelines:
1. Wood Characteristics & Variations
We work exclusively with solid hardwood timber slabs. Wood is an organic material that reacts to temperature and humidity. Natural features such as growth rings, live bark edges, grain swirls, small cracks (checks), and knots are characteristic of raw timber and are celebrated. These natural markings are not considered defects. Wood will expand, contract, and alter color over time as it adjusts to your home environment.
2. Commission Deposits & Lead Times
All custom pieces require a 50% non-refundable deposit before we begin slab preparation, welding, or assembly. This deposit covers timber sourcing and shop materials. Standard workshop lead times are estimated at 6 to 12 weeks, depending on design complexity. The remaining 50% balance must be paid upon project completion, prior to pickup or delivery.
3. Technology & Power Safety
Our integrated Qi wireless chargers and custom outlets are built with certified, high-grade electronics recessed and routed through solid timber. We conduct comprehensive electrical and thermal testing before delivery. However, clients must ensure all connected cables are plugged into surge-protected outlets, and the desk or table must not be exposed to water or moisture.
4. Freight, Delivery & Pickup
Clients are welcome to schedule a pickup by appointment at our Blue Ridge, Virginia workshop. If freight shipping is required, shipping costs are the sole responsibility of the client and will be billed separately. We ensure all slabs are crated with shock-absorbing foam to prevent transport damage.
